I-Master safeguards littoral environments from piracy, trafficking and illicit trade

The Navy has received intelligence that arms dealings are being conducted off domestic shores.

Blue forces use Thales’s high performance airborne surveillance radar, I-Master, to undertake covert surveillance of the area.

The radar has Maritime and Ground Moving Target Indication modes, which enable it to seamlessly track movements from the land to the sea - making it perfect for undertaking surveillance in littoral environments.

The targets of interest are quickly located and analysed in detail using I-Master’s ultra-fine Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery and Coherent Change Detection modes.

This enables operations to locate the building where weapons are being stored before they are smuggled to red vessels that are waiting to traffic the items at sea. 

Vehicles and people are tracked using I-Master’s highly accurate moving target mode, which can even track moving people.

Forces spring into action, intercepting the ship and raiding the land base.

I-Master’s Maritime Moving Target Indication (MMTI) mode means it can provide high performance littoral surveillance at the same time as the land surveillance provided by its ‘best in class’ Ground Moving Target Indication and SAR modes.

MMTI allows users to detect and track targets in the maritime domain, ranging from small, fast moving crafts such as jet-skis, to larger, slower vessels such as ships and tankers.

Subject to sea-state conditions, detection ranges up to 56 nautical miles are possible, in all weather conditions, day and night.
