For military and first responders operations
Evaluating the level of exposure of soldiers on the field to harmful biological aerosols remains a capability gap for all military forces around the world. Such an event if discovered late can lead to dramatic large scale medical consequences such as potential infection and contamination of individuals and operational ineffectiveness.
The use of a personal dosimeter system, which associates a personal air sampler reading with a data processing system, provides health services and field commanders a comprehensive solution able to provide a complete picture of the levels of exposures to biological aerosols.
The personal dosimeter is a key element in the 鈥渄etect-to-treat鈥 management approach. Thanks to the information gathered, health authorities can apply the appropriate medical counter measures for personnel minimising the impact on the operational force.
Contributing to a medical surveillance picture this also provides military commanders with an idea of where the potential contamination could be and help them react accordingly.
To fill this gap, Thales offer BioWARD:
鈥 A portable personal air sampler, to collect air samples and air particles onto a filter,
鈥 The ergonomics and the simple operation of the BioWARD are beneficial for military and operational use.
Mission
BioWARD is a unique
device, which offers 24 hours operational autonomy based on an external
power supply. Configured for any mission, whether combat, emergency
response or health monitoring.
Its filter based technology makes it
resistant to various meteorological conditions. It has been created as
a 鈥渟tart and forget鈥 device. No training is needed for is operational
usage.
Its low cost of ownership allows for a large repartition
across military and civilian first responder forces, giving operational
commanders, health authorities an accurate and reliable view of
effective exposure and bio threats, enabling effective responses.
The
BioWARD can also be used as a point sampler for standard and expert
military units, giving them a low cost, easy to use, aerosol sampling
capability.
