Thales UK launches industry leading interactive video game to attract the next generation of engineering apprentices

Thales has launched 鈥楾he Trip鈥, an innovative interactive video game tasked at uncovering the key skills required to become a successful engineer and to target the passive school leaver market. With over 80 apprenticeship opportunities across Engineering, Business and Manufacturing, Thales is on the hunt for hungry minds to join the organisation and combine paid work with the opportunity to study. With opportunities ranging from Manufacturing Technician to sponsored Software Degree Apprenticeships, Thales has a lot to offer for school leavers looking for a career that truly matters.
The game embraces the growing gamification trend within the recruitment market to encourage an interactive user experience whilst identifying key skills such as problem solving and attention to detail. This engaging tool aims to encourage school leavers to think about joining an innovative organisation like Thales through the use of fun problem solving tasks with the added bonus of potentially winning an incredibly tour of the Thales simulators at their Crawley office.
Thales has undergone a radical transformation over the summer to improve their apprenticeship recruitment including launching a revitalised social media presence through the creation of a 鈥楽napchat鈥 channel (@ThalesCareers) and setting up a 鈥榃hat鈥檚 App鈥 service to answer recruitment enquiries to ensure that apprentice candidates have a positive experience during the recruitment process.
In addition to this, Thales has introduced Work Strengths Behavioural testing and interviewing for apprentices to align their recruitment practices to the target demographic, which compliments a successful graduate recruitment strategy already integrated into the business.
Katherine Burrage, Director of Resourcing, Thales UK outlines the new approach:
鈥淲e鈥檙e building on our successes and launching a revitalised offering of engineering, manufacturing and business apprenticeship opportunities across the UK in order to tackle some of the challenges we face in relation to attracting the next generation of talent. We鈥檙e excited to launch 鈥楾he Trip鈥 as a way of interacting with our candidates and to promote our apprenticeship roles to a more diverse audience who potentially may not have considered working in an Engineering organisation before.鈥
