Thales brains support terminal illness care
You don鈥檛 have to jump out of a plane or cycle to Paris to support a good cause!
A team of Thales employees broke a mental sweat to raise money for , taking on the annual Glasgow Brain Game.
Now in its ninth year, the quiz took place on 1 October at The Kelvingrove Art Galleries, and was hosted by BBC鈥檚 鈥楾hey Think It鈥檚 All Over鈥 presenter Nick Hancock.
Teams from companies across Scotland competed in six rounds of eight questions for a chance to win the coveted Marie Curie Brain Game trophy. And this year, Thales was crowned 鈥淪cotland鈥檚 brainiest company鈥!
Team captain, Graham Brown was joined by his Glaswegian colleagues David Booth, Colin Burnside, Robyn Heslin, Morgan Mallen, Donna McKay, Vikki McLaren, Emma Mitchell, Douglas Osborne and Colin Scouller for this year鈥檚 quiz.
It wasn鈥檛 an easy win for Team Thales. Entering the penultimate round, they were ranked twelfth out of 40 and were nine points behind the leaders with only 16 points to play for.
However, the team only dropped one point in the final two sections and played their 鈥榡oker鈥 card on the final TV theme tune round to gain double points on a perfect score.
This gave Thales its third Glasgow Brain Game victory, and earned Colin Burnside the most valuable player accolade for his knowledge of Scottish wildlife during the infamous beaver question.
The Glasgow Brain Game is organised to help raise vital funds for the Marie Curie Glasgow Hospice and nursing services across Scotland. This year, the event raised over 拢100,000, exceeding its target and helping Marie Curie to deliver the best care and support through terminal illness.
