What can you expect in this profession?
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science transfer processes of the real world to computer systems by transferring the task into suitable models and then mapping these onto software systems. The variety of possible applications is almost unlimited and is constantly increasing with the increasing performance of the systems.
The volumes of data that have to be processed in companies are becoming ever larger, and with them the need to adequately store, evaluate, interpret, and make them accessible, as well as to protect them. As part of digitization, business processes are increasingly linked to data processing, and sub-processes are automated and made verifiable. Companies therefore need specialists to implement digitization strategies. The subject area of Data Science comprises competencies in the fields of computer science, mathematics and business administration. The aim is to examine data using scientific methods and to make it usable for company processes quickly and reliably. The field of work of a Data Scientist cannot be described in a uniform way. In particular, there is the predominantly business orientation and the orientation related to computer science and mathematics.
In the study program Computer Science, a focus is to be established that meets the needs of the partner companies and the DHBW and concentrates predominantly on the computer science-oriented topics of Data Science such as cloud technologies, machine learning, artificial intelligence, data management and software architectures for Big Data, but integrates the connection to business administration.

What qualifications do you need to have?
- General university entrance qualification or corresponding subject-related university entrance qualification
- Basic understanding of mathematics and the natural sciences
- Logical-analytical thinking
- Ability to abstract and to recognize and formulate technical correlations
- Confident handling of computers and modern software
- Good knowledge of German (C1 level) and English
- Team spirit, open-mindedness and sociability
- Motivation, initiative and commitment
- Reliability, sense of responsibility and perseverance
