Dubai Airshow 2021
In a world full of opportunity and unpredictability, Thales works closely with its clients and partners to enable them to think faster and act smarter. From the bottom of the ocean to the depths of space and cyberspace, Thales architects combine unique and diverse expertise to allow customers to confidently master every critical decisive moment.
At the Dubai Airshow, Thales will showcase its latest solutions in the defence and security domain but also civil domain. This includes our Integrated Air and Missile Defence approach and our UAV solutions (drone systems, traffic management & counter-UAV) to master Air Supremacy at all level of the airspace.
We will also showcase best of optronics and communications solutions to ensure airspace sovereignty.
In the civil domain we will display digital identity, security and cybersecurity solutions that are essential to protect citizens.

Integrated Air and Missile Defense
To deal with all type of threats (from drones to ballistic missiles), and with future and evolving threats, interoperability of Air Defence solutions is of the utmost importance. As a system integrator, with years of experience and expertise, Thales offers, develops and delivers solutions fully interoperable with existing systems. DAS2021 will be the opportunity to highlight our Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) approach to support national sovereignty.
Part of our Air Defence solutions we will showcase ForceShield, taking into account all air threats evolving at low altitude, including the threat of drones…. It is a flexible solution depending on the type of threat to be countered. Also presented in the C-UAV area, RapidFire is a true multirole defense system. It offers surface-to-air and surface-to-surface capabilities, including the ability to counter micro-UAVs.
The full capabilities of Thales Emarat Technologies and its centers of Excellence in Radars and Radios but also Defense Service Center will also be showcased.
UAVs management
For the civil and security domains, with UAVs there is an immense opportunity. But new applications, directly lead to new needs for UAV Traffic Management (UTM) services for managing drone traffic. With our experienced in partnerships with government and civil administrations, Thales offers new ways to monitor and control drones and make UTM a priority for airspace security. With TopSky UAS, Thales integrates unmanned aircraft seamlessly into controlled airspace
Those drone usages also lead to address significant security challenges and a need for protection against unregulated or illegal use. At DAS2021, you will find that Thales ensure safety of critical areas like airports through radar monitoring of drones. We offer the Eagleshield Idtect solution, part of the Eagleshield family, which is an integrated counter-UAV system based on an open and innovative architecture, from detection to neutralisation.
In the battlespace, the large-scale deployment of drones has demonstrated the huge opportunities for surveillance and protection of frontline forces. At DAS2021 you will discover the Spy'Ranger mini-UAV system, that brings front-line units an autonomous intelligence gathering and offensive reconnaissance capability, making them much more versatile, better protected and more connected than ever.
Drones are also increasingly being deployed for the purposes of hostile attack, creating the need for defence systems able to detect and neutralise this new type of threat.
As a recognised expert in air operations/defence Thales has a legitimate role in C-UAS and offers end-to-end value proposition from detection to engagement.
Best of optronics for airspace sovereignty
As air supremacy is also a matter of tactical and strategic advantage, we will showcase the best of our airborne optronics capability : The 2-in-1 targeting & reconnaissance pod TALIOS (Targeting Long-range Identification Optronic System), an omnirol pod that will onboard Artificial Intelligence (AI) to become the best fighter pilot’ digital partner.
Secure Communications
In the field of radio communications, the demos highlighted are the SYNAPS, the first military radio to enable real-time collaborative combat and the the solution that has never been beaten in the fight to protect satellite communications against jamming.
The Week's Highlights
This includes its biometric solutions and facial recognition platforms that ensures efficiency and accuracy for face detection, comparison and recognition. Such technologies support with the secure and seamless management of the full traveler journey, which today includes an automated, contactless digital experience.
In a world that is increasingly fast moving, unpredictable and full of opportunities, digital transformation, whose cybersecurity is a key of success, now permeates every aspect of business activities and daily lives. As a global leader in cybersecurity and data protection, Thales addresses the entire information security lifecycle through building cybersecurity into solutions, systems and architectures designed for the digital transformation of the most demanding government bodies, private firms and critical infrastructure providers.
The solutions that protect data on the ground and in the air through Thales’ cyber expertise will be on display at Dubai Air Show. From airport security and providing pilots with the information they need to make the right decisions, through to offering airlines and passengers secure digital services, the solutions will highlight how Thales technologies make travel safer, smarter and smoother for all parties involved.
As we live in an increasingly connected, digital and unpredictable world, the utilization of the latest technologies and high-performance solutions to protect nations and citizens has never been more important. As the aerospace sector gradually recovers amidst the ongoing pandemic, Thales remains committed to supporting key stakeholders in the industry to build a future we can all trust.
Greener aviation
Greener aviation through Optimized Air Traffic Control and Flight Management
As a world leader in air traffic control and flight management systems, Thales offers its customers flightpath optimisation solutions that can reduce aircraft CO2 emissions by up to 10% in the near future.
- Thales is redesigning the brain of the aircraft, the flight management system. By connecting it in real time, in particular with meteorological data, it will be able to constantly control, adapt and refine the trajectory of the aircraft for an optimised flight, lower fuel consumption, more punctuality and more comfort for passengers and the crews.
- New air traffic management systems will also make it possible to better manage aircraft flows as well as an optimized use of all resources (fuel, airspace, etc.). This will be made possible by predictive modeling of global air traffic, updated every minute based on the actual position of aircraft, global atmospheric monitoring integrating winds and climatic phenomena such as thunderstorms.
Thales is also offering new generation IFE solutions, such as AVANTUp, which are built with smart power management that dynamically allocate power where the passengers need it. Airlines benefit from a significantly reduced total cost of ownership, thanks to a lower acquisition cost, 30% weight reduction, 50% increase in reliability, and improved durability and serviceability.
