Thales Canada Part of MTR's Meeting with Ontario Premier in Hong Kong

On November 10, 2015 during her second trade mission to China, Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne met with Mass Transit Railway Corporation (MTRC) CEO Lincoln Leung and his top management in Hong-Kong.  
Also present at the meeting were Gabriel Colceag, VP Urban Rail Business Line, and VP and Managing Director, Thales Canada, Transportation Solutions and Thales Hong Kong’s MD, Henry Cheung.
Thales was the only industry actor attending this special meeting as a result of its massive contribution to MTR's past and future programs, designed by its Toronto based hi-tech centre of excellence for urban rail signalling.

Here are some of Thales’ major achievements implemented Rail Control Solutions for MTR since 1992:
 

  • West Rail Line; Thales signalled a 31km suburban line to Tuen Mun in the New Territories is the first Computer Based Train Control - CBTC system in Hong Kong - 2003
  • Thales equipped a 2nd Line, Ma On Shan to serve another suburb of Hong Kong in 2004
  • Thales implemented the first Driverless (Fully Automatic Operation) CBTC system on MTR’s Disney Resort Line
  • Thales provided an extension to the West Rail Line; Kowloon Southern Link in 2009
  • Thales is currently resignalling and adding an extension to the Hong Kong Lantau Airport People Mover; MTR provides project oversight
  • Thales is just underway with a 12 year program to resignal all the remaining urban lines under the DUAT project.
