When applying for Thales we want to ensure you put your best foot forward! Here are some frequently asked questions and our answers to make the application process as smooth as possible for you.
How can a graduate stand out in the Thales application process?
Our best applicants are able to articulate why they want to work at Thales and how this aligns with their passions, values and future goals. Our hiring managers will be particularly impressed if you have done your research on Thales and our current projects.
Can I apply for more than one role?
Absolutely, feel free to apply for any roles that suit your skills and preferred locations.
What is a video interview and how can I prepare?
We utilise video interviews as an early stage screening tool so hiring managers can get to know more about you at the earliest point in the process. The technology is very easy to use on your phone, tablet or computer. All you need to do is what for your invite and follow the instructions. If in doubt you can read more about them .
Prepare for the video interview as you would a regular interview.
How can I best prepare for an interview with Thales?
At Thales we practice behavioural based interviews. This means throughout the interview we will be looking for you to provide examples of real-life situations you have been in before. It's important in this style of interview to not be hypothetical about what you would do, but use example from previous experience.
Preparation could include:
- Review the job advert or position description and make sure you are familiar with the role
- Research Thales and be able to articulate why you want to work with us
- Think about questions you might be asked in the interview
- Reflect on previous experience so you have examples to draw from
- You can use examples from work, internships, volunteering, sports, university society involvement or even university projects
- Research how you will get to the location to ensure you are on time on the day
How do I articulate my examples in an interview?
The STAR method is a great way to answer behavioural based interview questions. This will help you provide as much detail as possible to the interviewers.
S – SITUATION - Provide context & background on the project, working environment or scenario
T - TASK - Describe the problems and challenges
A - ACTIONS - Explain exactly what you did and how
R – RESULT - Sum up by stating the outcome, benefits realised, savings and reward or recognition received.
Will there be a technical interview?
Dependant on the type of role you may be presented with a simple case study or problem to workshop with the interview team. We will let you know before the interview if this will be part of the assessment. You don’t need to bring anything to assist you.
How long will I need to wait between final interview until offer?
We progress fairly quickly at Thales. Once your interview is complete we will be back to you within a couple of days, we then look to complete background checks and make final offers. A recruiter will happily share their contact details so you can call with any questions.
